Welcome to Hrulabs

An introduction to what Hrulabs is, what we work on, and why we built this lab.

Why Hrulabs Exists

Most interesting engineering problems don't fit neatly inside a single discipline. A functional prototype needs geometry that is manufacturable, a material that survives its environment, and tooling to assemble and inspect it — all at once, all interdependent. A project that hands off across four separate vendors doesn't just lose time. It loses coherence.

Hrulabs was built to be one place where those threads stay connected.

What We Actually Do

The lab is organised around the path from geometry to physical part:

  • 3D modelling — parametric CAD where design intent lives in constraints, not fixed dimensions
  • 3D printing and prototyping — FDM printing for functional parts, not just visual models
  • Simulation-informed design — structural and thermal analysis used as a design tool, before fabrication
  • AI and agents — code-driven geometry generation, automated simulation loops, and research tooling

How We Work

Every project starts with a technical brief. We don't begin modelling or printing until requirements are unambiguous. We simulate before we fabricate. We document everything — not as an afterthought, but as part of the deliverable.

The goal is that a client can take our output and run with it independently. That means source files, not locked formats. Methodology notes, not just results. Transfer documentation, not tribal knowledge.

What's Next

This blog will document the technical work coming out of the lab — modelling methodologies, print process notes, simulation studies, and experiments in AI-assisted engineering.

If you have a project that fits, get in touch.
